Rock Climbing
For an introduction to rock climbing, starting to lead or advanced
techniques a tailor made climbing course will take your climbing
to where you want to be. Using some of Britain's finest rock climbing
venues of Glen Coe, Glen Nevis, Ben Nevis, Ardverikie, Creag Dudh and Ardnamurchan you will be able
to climb some of the best routes in the country while learning
the skills to become totally self-reliant. From your first steps your climbing skills, footwork and balance, will be coached and refined so that you climb smoothly and confidently. Learn the technical aspects of setting up anchors, retrievable abseils and rescues involving hoists and pully systems. Or maybe you just want to experience Britains best rock climbs with the security of your own guide.

For your tailor made course, be it personal guiding by the day on Scotland's classic rock climbs (for example Tower Ridge or Centurian), a two day or five day rock
climbing instruction course, please use the table below for prices. A ratio of 1:2 is ideal for multi-pitch climbing enabling any route to be
tackled and lead climbing to be coached. Larger groups are mostly limited to single-pitch crags but all aspects of climbing can still be covered. The prices are for the whole group, divide this by the number of people for the price per person.

Classic Ridges of Ben Nevis
The four classic ridges of Ben Nevis offer some of the best and longest rock climbs in Britain. They are truely of Alpine scale and require good scrambling skills and rock climbing ability at V.Diff. There is nothing else like these fine ridges in the UK. Climbing just one of them is an achievement in itself but climbing all four in a week is outstanding.

Warm up day in Glen Nevis for a revision of core skills of movement on rock, belaying and abseiling. |
Day Two |
Castle Ridge (Moderate 300m) with a descent down Ledge Route or the CMD Arete. |
Day Three |
Tower Ridge (Difficult 800m) including the Douglas Boulder Direct Route (V.Diff 200m) and abseil. |
Day Four |
Newbiggins Far Right Variation and NE Buttress (V.Diff 700m). |
Day Five |
Observatory Ridge (V.Diff 500m). |
Classic Rock
The situation and scale of the climbs in Lochaber is unrivaled in the UK. There are many climbs with a big feel and stature at a reasonable level of difficulty. If you are happy climbing at Severe or VS level you will be able to enjoy a selection of big classic rock climbs. They will be some of the best rock climbs you ever do.

Agag's Groove (V.Diff 100m) and January Jigsaw (Severe 75m) on Buachaille Etive Mor. |

Weeping Wall (Severe 100m) and Archer Ridge (Severe 70m), Aonach Dubh East Face. |
Day Four |
Ardverikie Wall (Hard Severe 180m), Binnein Shuas. The best route of its grade in the UK. |
Day Five |
Spartan Slab (VS 5a), Etive Slabs. |
Big Mountain Rock Climbs
Glen Coe and Ben Nevis are reknowned for their big mountain rock climbs. Nowhere else can you find routes at such a standard, high up on enormous buttresses in the mountains. These climbs are very dependent on getting good, dry weather but when it all works out there's nothing else quite like it.

Butterknife (VS 4b) Garbh Bheinn, Ardgour. |

Hammer (HVS 5a) or Spartan Slab (VS 5a) on the Etive Slabs. |
Day Four |
Centurion (HVS 5a) or The Bullroar (HVS 5a) on Ben Nevis. |
Day Five |
Bludger's Revelation (HVS 5a), Buachaille Etive Mor. |
First Steps on Rock
If you are new to rock climbing or want to make the move from indoor climbing walls to the real thing we can coach you through how to move on rock and all the ropework you'll need to get yourselves out climbing on single and multi pitch crags. The range of venues here is excellent so we can go to a different place each day with a progressive approach to the skills coaching.

A day of climbing to learn the core skills of movement on rock, tying in to the rope, belaying and abseiling. |
Day Two |
Climbing on single pitch crags, how to use simple anchors for top rope and bottom rope systems. |
Day Three |
How to use other types of anchors such as wires and friends, placing and removing them and linking them together at belays. |
Day Four |
Multi pitch climbing including stance management, route choice and abseil retreat. |
Day Five |
An insight into leading your first rock climbs. |
Learn to Lead on Rock
Having got used to belaying and abseiling on indoor climbing walls and on single pitch crags outdoors, the next step is to start leading for yourself. These skills will give you the confidence and ability to go out and tackle the climbs you really want to do all by yourself.

A quick revision of the core skills of movement on rock, tying in to the rope and belaying plus setting up your own belay systems. |
Day Two |
Lead climbing on single pitch crags, how to use wires and friends, placing and removing them and linking them together at belays. |
Day Three |
Lead climbing on multi pitch crags, stance management, route choice and abseil retreats. |
Day Four |
Solving simple problems and rescue systems. |
Day Five |
Leading multi pitch climbs with double ropes.. |
Self-Rescue Skills
Ever wondered what you would do in the event of something going wrong? Choosing the wrong route, the onset of bad weather or injury can cause real headaches and it's worth having the tools to solve them. If you have been lead climbing for a while and are happy with all the ropework involved this course will give you the confidence to tackle more committing climbs, safe in the knowledge that you can sort yourself out if it goes wrong.
Day One |
Core rescue skills such as tying off your belay plate, using different prussick knots plus prussicking, multi pitch abseil retreats using an autoblock and abseiling past a knot. |
Day Two |
Simple pulley systems to aid a stuck second, rescuing a stuck second and rescuing a stuck leader. |
